Namibia has the most stable government in African and supports strong environmental and anti-poaching laws. It's a fascinating country with geography that ranges from the photogenic Namib Desert to arid mountains to dry savanna to the lush Zambezi region of the north. Game animals wander freely even outside park boundaries, and specialty birds of southern Africa are numerous. Game drives within Etosha National Park and the Zambezi Region offer several antelope not present in East Africa. Encounters with predators are very possible, and even African Wild Dogs are occasionally seen in the Zambezi Region. For these reasons it's a pleasure touring and birding the country.

 

 

 

Our Northeast Namibia tour begins immediately upon arrival at the airport in Windhoek. Birding there and at the sewage ponds is followed by an overnight stay at Daan Viljoen National Park. The tour proceeds to the Waterberg Plateau area. After an overnight at Waterberg, the tour continues to Etosha National Park for 3 full days plus 2 half days of game drives and birding. A couple birding stops along the way should produce some key target species. From Etosha a transfer to Rundu reaches more lush habitats on the Angola border. After an overnight near Rundu, a transfer into Botswana and the Okavango River delta of Botswana brings a whole new suite of species. The tour then proceeds north to the Zambezi River for an overnight stop at Katima Mulilo near the border followed by transfer to Livingstone Zambia for one last night of birding outside town and at Victoria Falls.
