ABOUT THE BIRDING
The Nkanga River Conservation Area consists of 3 private farms in the southern province plateau area of Zambia. Much of the area is fenced game farm, with the remainder grazed by livestock or under cultivation. The habitat is a mix of Miombo woodland, Munga woodland, and thickets interspersed with dambos (plateau wetland surround by Miombo woodland), and some open grassy plains. The main attraction is the only Zambia endemic, Chaplin's Barbet.
LOCATION OF SITE
The Nkanga River Conservation Area is located 5 km from the town of Choma on the main highway between Lusaka and Livingstone. Choma is 285 km from Lusaka and 188 km from Livingstone.
