ABOUT THE BIRDING
Lo Xo Pass is a highland area with mostly scrub habitat. The weather can be foggy, cloudy, and rainy at times, which can affect the birding. Biting gnats can be a problem in the area and not much fends them off except long-sleeved shirts and long pants. There are also leeches, best avoided with leech socks. The primary target bird is the Black-crowned Bar-wing, a skulky bird of the scrub that is fairly common. It's sometimes seen along the road and sometimes requires hiking up a trail that is initially steep but soon levels out.
LOCATION OF SITE
Lo Xo Pass is a 40-minute drive from the town of Kham Duc, located in central Vietnam.
