San Lorenzo National Park encompasses nearly 10,000 hectares of forests, mangroves, pastures, and coastline on the Atlantic side of the Panama Canal near Colon. Some 430 species of birds have been recorded in the park, and a record 357 species were seen on the 1999 Christmas Bird Count conducted there by the Panama Audubon Society. Birding can be done along the newly paved road traversing the park as well as along numerous trails within the park.
