Location of Old Gamboa Road in Panama
The Old Gamboa Road is the old road between the town of Gamboa and Panama City. The Summit Ponds are near the beginning of this road. At its beginning the road intersects with the Pipeline Road that parallels the canal. The north end of the road is reached from the intersection with the Gaillard Highway. It's the second road to the left after passing the entrance to the El Charco Trail.
Description of Old Gamboa Road

The southern end of Old Gamboa Road traverses a variety of habitats including the Summit Ponds. The road passes through developed areas and disturbed forests but offers more open country birding. The Ammunition Ponds on the way to Pipeline Road are the best place to see the elusive White-throated Crake. The northern end of the road is more forested and offers access to birds not commonly seen on the Pacific side of the canal zone.
