Colonia Virgen del Socorro is a farming community off sharply left Highway 9 between Puerto Viejo and San Jose. It's located not far north of Cinchona, about an hour from Puerto Viego and 45 minutes from San Jose. The birding area is along a dirt road that turns off just after a toll booth and the narrow bridge crossing over the Sarapiqui River when coming from the north.
