ABOUT THE BIRDING

The Santa Cruz Botanical Gardens is an excellent site for birding Chiquitano dry forest habitat. There is also some transitional forest and a small marsh in addition to the gardens. Nearby are agricultural lands and pastures as well as chaco-like scrub. A number of trails go around and through the forest perimeter, allowing access to the forest and forest edge. A specialty bird of the forest is Bolivian Slaty-Antshrike. Also present in the forest are Titi Monkeys and Capuchin Monkeys.

LOCATION OF SITE

The Botanical Gardens are located in the city of Santa Cruz de la Sierra in central Bolivia.
