ABOUT THE BIRDING

The area around Quirusillas is moist mountain forest surrouned by a dry valley. Nearby is Laguna Esmeralda. This area is the northern-most extent of the range for Tucuman Parrot. An austral migrant, Slaty Elaenia is normally present only during rainy season from December-April. Another key species is Red-faced Guan, sometimes seen near Laguna Esmeralda. Quirusillas is a good place to see Dot-fronted Woodpecker. An added bonus is Andean Condors are commonly seen there.

LOCATION OF SITE
