Caye Caulker is a picturesque tropical island with a laid-back lifestyle, lovely beaches, and coral reefs of the Belizean Barrier Reef. It's main industry has traditionally been fishing, but tourism is gaining a foothold. Major attractions are snorkeling and scuba diving, along with sportfishing. Some 100 species of birds are regularly seen on the island. Most notable is the Black Catbird, a Yucatan endemic found in restricted locales in Belize. Nesting Red-footed Boobies and Magnificent Frigatebirds that nest on nearby islands are readily seen during boat trips.
