2012 Panama Hotspots Tour
TOUR OVERVIEW
Our birding tour to Panama offers a unique mix of Central and South American bird species commingling in the area surrounding the Panama Canal combined with high elevation specialties and near endemic birds of western Panama. In the Canal Zone we'll bird famed Pipeline Road, Old Gamboa Road, Discovery Center, and Metropolitan National Park on the Pacific side and Achiote Road on the Caribbean side. In western Chiriqui Province we'll spend 1½ days birding Fortuna Road, a trail along the Continental Divide, and selected areas in the Caribbean lowlands. We'll also bird the private property at Finca Lerida, La Amistad Heritage Park, Volcan Baru National Park, and several other sites in the highlands. We'll stay in bed-and-breakfasts, ecolodges, and comfortable hotels throughout the tour.
