Very early visit to Andean Cock-of-the-Rock lek at Finca Angel Paz. View antpittas lured from forest by Angel Paz. Look for Dark-backed Quail-Dove, Golden-headed Quetzal, and Toucan Barbet on forest trails. Afternoon birding along road through Mindo-Nambillo Forest.

Early morning birding around Mindo Junction where moths attract numerous birds including trogons, toucanets, flycatchers, and tanagers. After breakfast departure for Bellavista Reserve at higher elevation. Lunch at Bellavista. Mid-day and afternoon viewing hummingbirds at feeders and birding around lodge and in reserve. Mid afternoon transfer to Quito.

Early breakfast and departure for eastern Andes. Stop in Tumbaco Valley to look for Scrub Tanager. Birding en route across Papallacta Pass. Stop in Cayumbe Reserve above pass to look for Rufous-bellied Seedsnipe, Andean Condor, and other high elevation specialties. Arrive Guango Lodge in late afternoon.

Very early departure downslope to look for Swallow-tailed Nightjar. Continue downslope, spending day birding upper and lower Loreto Road.

Morning birding in San Isidro Reserve, taking trails through forest looking for quetzals and trogons. After lunch departure for Quito.

For those taking the shortened tour, this is the morning to depart for home. For those going to Napo Wildlife Center, after breakfast transfer to airport for flight to Coca. Mid-day 2-hr powerboat trip down Napo River. Then 2-3 hour dugout canoe trip to lodge, looking for Hoatzins, Zigzag Heron, Great Potoo, and other birds and animals en route. Arrive at lodge before dark.

Two full days birding in private reserve and adjoining Yasuni National Park. Highlights include visit to observation tower, allowing above-canopy viewing of macaws, parrots, fruit crows, and other canopy birds; visit to legendary parrot clay licks in Yasuni National Park; birding trip by boat into flooded varzea forest; birding trails of dry terra firme forest.
