Southern Amazon Basin and Alta Floresta

We can arrange for a visit to Cristalino Lodge in the southern Amazon Basin at the beginning or end of any of our Brazil tours subject to availability. The lodge provides resident guide services which are normally excellent. Specialized English-speaking birding guides are available upon request for an extra charge.

Cristalino Lodge in the southern Amazon - photo courtesy Cristalino LodgeCristalino Lodge is a superb birding destination where it's possible to see 300 species of birds during a 4-5 night stay. Many of these species are not found outside the Amazon basin, and some are local endemics only found in the southern Amazon. The lodge caters to birders and transports them by boat to various trails and other birding locales in the vicinity. There are a variety of forest habitats within the rainforest that differ in degree of flooding, soil conditions, and specific plant species that harbor different specialty birds. The local guides are highly knowledgeable about these habitats and where to find the specialty birds. A viewing platform offers vantage points at 30 and 50 meters above ground level, affording excellent views of canopy birds and monkeys.

For additional details about birds one may see at the lodge, please click on the DESCRIPTION tab above. To make arrangements for a visit, give us a call at 877-247-3371 or 303-325-5188.
