Panama offers numerous excellent birding locales, but a birding tour should ideally include both Pacific and Caribbean sides of the Canal Zone plus the western highlands of Chiriqui province. Because there are so many excellent sites in western Panama, we have split the tour into two week-long segments beginning in 2013. Combining both tours into a single 15-day tour is the best way to experience the best that Panama has to offer. Our Panama birding tours are led by a superb birding guide who is based in the western highlands. He knows the best birding sites there, unlike many guides who are based in the Canal Zone. We avoid the more expensive lodges to keep our prices lower but stay in comfortable and conveniently located accommodations throughout the tour. February and March are the best times to bird in Panama because it's dry season, most birds are nesting, and Quetzals are not yet incubating inside nesting holes.
