PUBLISHED TOURS
A deposit of $300 is required at the time of registration for tours to Central America. A deposit of $500 is required at the time of registration for tours to South America.
Payments are refundable until 90 days prior to departure with the exception that any non-refundable deposits made to hold rooms, purchase airline tickets, etc. on the participant's behalf are not refundable. Thereafter, the following policy applies:
If the participant arranges for an acceptable substitute to fill the slot or if the tour is over-booked, all payments are fully refundable unless subject to a service charge (see below). Otherwise, between 90 days and 60 days prior to departure, the initial deposit is non-refundable but all other payments are fully refundable unless subject to a service charge. Within 60 days of departure no refund is available.
Payment should be made in US dollars by check, money order, or bank wire transfer. Master and Visa cards are accepted but not encouraged. Any refund of payments made by credit card are subject to a 5% handling fee if cancellation is made by participant but NOT if Exotic Birding cancels the tour.
We organize most tours without use of a land agent. Occasionally, a tour is not possible without aid of a land agent who puts the tour together according to our specifications. Credit card payments for tours organized by land agents are subject to a 5% surcharge. Tours where this surcharge would apply are specifically identified on the tour overview page.
PRIVATE TOURS
We are happy to organize private tours. Early planning is eesential as the best guides and accommodations become booked during peak season many months in advance.
We provide one free consult to discuss your travel goals. Thereafter, we require a $200 non-refundable deposit payable in advance to produce a tentative itinerary. Along with itinerary we will provide an estimated tour price.
Should you decide to go forward with the tour, we require a $300 non-refundable deposit per person to firm up the itinerary, make hotel/lodge reservations, and arrange for guide services. The original itinerary may change in light of actual availability of accommodations. Once the itinerary is firm, we will provide a definite price for the tour. All deposits will be applied toward the tour price.
Payment in full for the tour is due 90 days prior to departure, at which point it becomes non-refundable.
