El Cajas National Park at high elevation near Gualaceo west of Cuenca in southern Ecuador. It's the best place in Ecuador for seeing paramo specialties. The lower elevation Lago Llaviuco area is reached by a 1.5 mile bumpy dirt road off the main highway some 6 miles from Cuenca. The higher elevation Laguna Toreadora is reached by a 12 mile dirt road going up from the same point on the main highway.
