The Bellavista Cloud Forest is a notably more temperate forest located at higher elevation than the Tandayapa Valley. Hence, it attracts a different combination of birds including a variety of hummingbirds not seen in the lower valleys. The reserve protects 700 hectares of forest, and some 9 km. of trails offer great birding opportunities. Hummingbird feeders at the lodge make it easy to see the hummingbirds found in the area.
