Our Costa Rica birding tours visit three of the best birding locales in central Costa Rica, namely Carara National Park, La Selva Biological Station, and Savegre Mountain Lodge in the Talamanca Mountains. This itinerary allows us to see specialty birds of lowland and middle elevations on both Pacific and Caribbean sides of the country as well as highland birds such as Resplendent Quetzals. The best time to go birding in Costa Rica is the dry season, especially late January through March before Quetzals begin sitting on eggs inside their nesting holes, which occurs in April. Our summer tour visits the same sites during the mini-dry season of July. This time of year it's possible to pick up rare wanderers, especially at La Selva.
