Brazil Birding Destination

Ubatuba is a beach resort area on the Atlantic coast and is well-known as a birding destination because of its easy access and its high number of endemic and rare birds. The coastal mountain range slightly inland is commonly known as the Serra do Mar. A frequently birded area is the nearby Fazenda Capricornia, an overgrown coffee plantation. Another nearby birding area is a remnant SE Atlantic Rainforest near Pico do Corcovado. Specialty birds of the area include Brown-backed Parrotlet, Saw-billed Hermit, Crscent-chested Puffbird, Squamate Antbird, Such's Antthrush, Slaty Bristlefront, Buff-throated Purpletuft, Pin-tailed Manakin, Long-billed Wren, Rufous-headed Tanager, Brazilian Tanager, Azure-shouldered Tanager, Golden-chevroned Tanager, Gilt-edged Tanager, and Black-legged Dacnis.
