We meet everyone at the Albrook Inn near the domestic airport in Panama City, where we'll stay our first 3 nights. We then transfer to the Sierra Llorona Lodge for a 2 night stay. After flying to David, we'll stay 3 nights at Hotel dos Rios. Finally, we return to Panama City where we spend our final night at the Albrook Inn where the tour began.
ALBROOK INN
The Albrook Inn is located on a 311 acre tract of gardens and trees in a residential area a few minutes from the domestic airport. The area was formerly a US military base, and the accommodations are in a refurbished officer's guest house. The inn's location providess easy access to Pipeline Road, Gamboa, and other areas we visit on the tour. It features a swimming pool, jacuzzi, restaurant with national and international cuisine on the menu, bar, and laundry services. The 30 rooms are air conditioned and feature queen or twin beds, cable TV, and private bath with hot water. TOP
SIERRA LLORONA LODGE
Sierra Llorona Lodge is a jungle lodge located within a 500 acre private forest not far from Colon on the Caribbean side of the Panama Canal Zone. The lodge features a family-style restaurant, full bar, sitting area, and laundry service. The surrounding forest provides seclusion as well as birding opportunities. Over 200 species have been seen on the lodge grounds.
Single rooms feature a single double bed, while double rooms feature 2 beds. All rooms have private bath with hot water showers, ceiling fans, and private balcony with hammock looking out over the surrounding forest. TOP
HOTEL DOS RIOS
Hotel Dos Rios is located about 45 minutes drive from the provincial capital of David in the highlands of western Chiriqui Province. The hotel is very nice and features a comfortable sitting area in the reception, full-service bar, restaurant with with both indoor and outdoor seating, and internet access. The gardens and a small tract of nearby forest attract a variety of birds to the property. The restaurant offers a la carte menus of Panamanian-style cuisine including beef and chicken, as well as pizza and seafood.
Rooms are very clean and feature 2 double beds, private bath with hot water, and TV. Rooms are well ventilated and air-conditioning is unnecessary because of the mild temperatures. Windows in the rooms look out over the gardens. TOP
